Kisumu county is rising as a tech and innovation hub in the country. This can be seen with the innovations done on even a system as mundane as the tax system, when the digital version of the same was launched a while back.
They are at it again with a new product, a Whats App-based assistant called Dala. The word translates to ’Home’ from Luo, and for good reason. Created by Levi Nudi and his team, Dala allows you to access various services from the comfort of your own home.
So, how does it work? To access Dala, simply send a “hello” from your Whats App account to the number +254 756 742 421. This action will prompt Dala to reply with a menu of common areas of interest, from which you can go deeper by replying with the relevant characters.

Its operation is very similar to the USSD codes that we are all familiar with. However, it demonstrates uniqueness in that it uses Whats App – arguably the most popular social platform in the country – instead.
I personally gave it a try, and it exceeded whatever expectations I may have had. Have you tried it yet? What are you waiting for? Let me know how it goes in the comment section below.
